PgD
in Strategic Business IT is designed for IT and computing graudates or IT practitioners who wish to further develop their career. The program covers a wide range of contemporary issues and develops the critical, analytical and technical skills needed by senior staff. The program will also develop the academic skills required for further study at master's level.
MSc in Strategic Business IT is a follow-up to the PgD in Strategic Business IT, the program is designed to build on existing IT skills and develop the skills and knowledge to undertake IT management responsibilities and senior roles. It will also provide students with an understanding of the strategic issues associated with businesses operating within the IT environment. |

| Entry
Requirements for PgD in Strategic Business IT |
| Route 1
- Bachelor's
degree with honours (or equivalent), IT graduates who hold a bachelor's ordinary or pass-level degree (or equivalent) in Infromation Technology or related subject with exceptionally high marks may be considered for admission, at the discretin of NCC Education, or
Route 2
-
Bachelor's degree with honours in a non- IT subject (or equivalent) AND three (3) years' work experience
in an IT environment, with evidence of technical or managerial responsibility, or
Route 3
- Five (5) years' work experience in an IT environment with evidence of technical or managerial responsibility AND the ability to demostrate suitability for academic study, via personal or telephone interv iew with the Course Co-ordinator at the student's Accredited Partner Center.

| Students whose first langugae is not English will need an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent, as outlined in the NCC Education English Requirements for Postgraduate Entry document. |

Requirements for MSc in Strategic Business IT |
| NCC Education PgD SBIT, plus other entry requirements at the discretion of the university of Portsmouth. This currently include an Academic Reference and IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent. |

| PgD - Normally 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time. |
| MSc - Each student works through the dissertation at their own pace with one-to-one supervision. In general, 18 months of work should be expected to complete the program. |

Reflecting on the application of research approaches and communicating research findings in a suitable format for dissemination.
Assessed by 60% written assignment and 40% group assisgnment. |

| Enterprise Software and Business Infrastructure |
An overall view of thow information technology is used within industrial enterprise, what is meant by "enterprise software" and how it is incorporated within the underlying infrastructure.
Assessed by 30% examination and 70% written assisgnment. |

Information System Analysis |
The concept of strategic information systems and how they many be deployed and managed in such a way that supports, enhances and is consistent with, the overall business strategy.

Managing and controlling IT projects in a commercial environment.
Assessed by 30% examination and 70% group project assisgnment. |

| Research
Methodology |
The
concepts of Strategic Information Systems will be introduced
and explained. Students will be enabled to use research methods
relevant to Information Systems. Student will develop skills
in a software tool (e.g. MS Excel) suitable for analysing statistical
data.
Assessed by 100% project proposal (15 credits). |

| Dissertation |
| Exposes
students to a significant project that needs management under
real world constraints. Promotes good project management and
research skills, both in terms of dealing with a real world
problem environment and the academic support required to underpin
any proposed solution. Develops
written reporting skills in a focused and supportive environment.
Provides opportunities to liase and relate to external 'clients'
in a commercial, industrial or academic environment. Promotes
the integration and enhancement of all the theoretical and
practical skills developed during the taught course.
Dissertation 100% coursework (45 credits). |
